“Life is not a matter of milestones, but of moments.”Rose Titzgerald Kennedy
Every Saturday afternoon during the fall season, the church youth group got together and played football. Guy or girl, younger or older – everyone played. On one afternoon, it was getting late in the day, and the group was still playing. Suddenly, the quarterback on one team stopped playing and shouted, “Hey, everybody! Look at that sunset!” The players stood still, looking in awe at the golden brilliance of that fall sunset. For the moment, nothing else mattered but the beauty of the sun’s last hurrah!
At first, it seemed crazy to stop the whole game for something that happens every day. But soon it made perfect sense. No other sunset would be just like this one. Its orange and gold hues were mixed especially for this day. Tomorrow’s sunset would be different.
Don’t miss today’s sunset by getting too caught up in the game. Look around you and enjoy the beautiful things of God’s creation. It will remind you of how silly it is to get so caught up with a hectic schedule that you forget what’s really important.
Grab a lawn chair and watch the sun go down.
