“You can’t influence a world with which you are not familiar.”
One of the characteristics of successful people is that they are aware of their world. They use every opportunity to stay informed on current events. Business, political, social, religious, and sports news is available to them, and they take advantage of it. They know that an awareness of world events gives them an edge, whether it’s in their personal decision-making or in their interaction with others.
To know what’s going on in the world, you have to read. In just a few moments each day, you can become aware of what’s happening in your world. For example, take a few minutes to look over the read every word of every line in the newspaper to know what’s in it. Scan the headlines. Read the first few sentences of each paragraph.
Another way to stay informed is to watch a television news programme or to go to a news Web site. Look and listen for the main events.
It really doesn’t take much effort to be “in the know”.
